All Around The World
Peter
Mealy
I wrote most of this song years ago, and the travel image was simply a
metaphor. After spending the last ten years with Laurie, who has dragged me
all across Asia, Africa and South America, the song has taken a completely
new meaning. The rewritten last verse reflects this. G Cadd9b5 G G Cadd9b5 G
fading fast
before the sun D/F# Em A7
leaving secrets
in the shadows G Cadd9b5 G
I feel your heat
you’re on the
run G Cadd9b5 G
I hear you speak
a foreign tongue D/F# Em A7 Words that
pierce me like an arrow G D/F# Em Distant lands
cloud your eyes Cadd9b5 G Watch your tears
turn into pearls D/F# Em Take me all around the world C9b5 Take
me all around the world Make me laugh so much like you Unrehearsed but right on cue
Making exits with
no sorrow You look so far
and see right through from here to
Spain from me to you Make this last
until tomorrow Distant lands
cloud your eyes Watch your tears
turn into pearls Take me all around the world Take me all around the world D G
Cadd9 D When the night
burns and another star is falling Em C Am D When the light
turns and another road is calling C D/C Csus C/D Read the maps
and watch the stars They may tell
you where you are But they won’t lead you where your heart goes So spin the
globe a flash of blue A restless ride
we fade from view Taking passage
where the wind blows Distant lands
cloud your eyes Watch your tears
turn into pearls Take me all
around the world Take me all around the world
