Emcee Introduction for

Laurie Rose Griffith and Peter Mealy

 

Ø      Laurie and Peter have been performing together since 1994

Ø      They have been married since 1995

Ø      Their first CD, “Tocoi Light” was nominated for 9 WAMMIES, and was awarded a WAMMY for Best Debut Album of the Year

Ø      Laurie and Peter have been nominated for the Virginia Governors Award for Artistic Achievement

Ø      Their second CD Something Good was released in June 2005 and reflects the  maturity and precision that comes with a musical and personal partnership that has spanned more than a decade.

Ø      They have performed at hundreds of venues and festivals, including The Philadelphia Folk Festival. They were finalists in the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk competition.

Ø      Peter was a first place winner in the Mid Atlantic Songwriter’s Competition

Ø      Laurie and Peter’s shared musical vision is to present their own material as well as compelling songs by lesser known writers. The title track of their first CD, “Tocoi Light” was written by Bruce Dalzell, a songwriter form Athens Ohio, and was nominated for Song of the Year by the Washington Area Music Association.

Ø      Laurie and Peter are avid travelers and since 1999 have visited some twenty countries in between their work and performing schedules.
