FAMILY (for Kathy)

Pat White

She always was a gentle one

Though tough as nails if had to be

He always wanted more for her

They talked about a family

Early morning misty rain

The wind was blowing on the fields

They looked out on the place they’d known

To say good bye

Set out on the open sea

To travel to a place unknown

To settle in a strange country

To try and make themselves a home

Went across a fertile landFound a valley rich and green

He took her in his arms and said

This is where we’re meant to be

They worked so hard to make it here

Clearing orchards planting fields

Day and night trials and tears

And they made a home

So it moves on down the years

The moon’s still shining on the sea

Spirits move across the field

And we are still a family
