Recovery

Peter Mealy

This song was inspired by a good friend of ours, who is a talented musician, and a great entertainer. He was a vicitim of esophogan cancer, which was followed by acute respitory

distress syndrome, heart failure and a six week coma. He not only survived aginst the expectations of his physician, but he has recovered enough to play the electric guitar solo on this song.

This time was different

You were off running scared

This time you reached in your hat

And there was nothing there

Gone in an instant

Like a cold wind on my face

The crowd called your name out

To an empty stage

It’s not time to say goodbye

You’re out on your own but you don’t know why

Some roads you just have to walk alone

And we’ll be waiting when you come back home

Bed like a prison

Time like a vise

Dream like a vision

Of an endless night

But this time is different

You could lose or you could win

This time you may be taller

Than the hole you’re in

It’s not time to say goodbye

You’re out on your own but you don’t know why

Some roads you just have to walk alone

And we’ll be waiting when you come back home

No surprise when the best laid plan

Breaks like a promise in a lie

Hope survives when a second chance

Lifts you up like an eagle in flight

We look in the mirror

The years start to show

We don’t look much further

‘cause we don’t really want to know

But this time was different

When the clouds refused to clear

This time you reached in your hat

And made them disappear

It’s not time to say goodbye

You’re out on your own but you don’t know why

Some roads you just have to walk alone

And we’ll be waiting when you come back home

Well be together when you come back home
